....after having a somepreterm labor last weekend, my docs sent me homeWednesday on bed rest. About 5am on Thursday morning,my water broke at home and John whisked me to thehospital. My husband is the biggest stud in the world,by the way, because he got me here in 12 minutes flat.
Emily Rachel Salomon arrived at 5:22am 2/7/08, just 7minutes after we arrived at the hospital. She was3lbs, 1oz at birth, and a little lighter right now. (Ihappen to know that many of the labor and deliverystaff went out drinking after this high drama, we weretempted to join them).
She is really doing great for her age and the her"rough start". She breaths on her own, she is takingmilk through her tube in her mouth. She is hooked upto all sorts of monitors. She has a little black andblue tush from being breach. She is doing as good aswe could pray for. We are really happy with our littlefighter. This will be a long road paved, I am sure, with manyhighs and lows. She is expected to be in the hospitaluntil her "real" due date (April 23).
John and I willbe spending most of our free time by her side. We can't stay away. She is just so beautiful. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. As for visitors, one of her biggest threats at thispoint is infection. So, we and the doctors havedecided to keep visitors very limited for at least thenext couple of weeks. So, following the lead of my more tech-savvy friends(Soph, Tammie, Hannah), we started a little blog tokeep you all updated. Aside for any BIG updates, suchas when she gets to come home, I will just update theblog so, you can see how she is doing at your leisure.I would LOVE it if you left me comments on the blog, because I am sure that will be my lifeline for awhile. I will try and update it daily, or at leastevery few days.
