Seeing her nose for the first time....

Look Ma, one less tube! She got her breathing device removed (the tape came off a little later). We see her nose for the first time (tears all the way around).
I wanted to mention, that a lot of people have called me, and I have not been good about calling you back. That is because I can not have a cell phone by her bed. I hate to leave her side, even for a second, and when I do, I have to scrub back in., so it takes a while. So, please accept my apologies on not returning calls.
It is really isolating here, but this blog is really keeping me going so, thank you for all the comments. The hardest thing is to leave her at night (I cry all the way home). And also the fact that I can only hold her once a day, which often times means that John cannot. It is really really hard. So, thank you again for all your support and prayers. It means the world to the 3 of us.

Hey Renee, Emily looks great! I had to really go through all the pictures to get a good idea of her size cuz she looked big to me in the first few. My Dad sends his regards. Glad all is going well. She'll be home before you know it!

Renee, You are a MOM! Congratulations! I am so excited for you! I just want you to know that we have been praying for you, John and especially Emily since we heard the news. She is adorable - I am overcome with joy to see you hold your baby girl! Thinking of you non-stop...can't get you and precious Emily out of my thoughts. We are sending so much love and positive energy your way. I love you. Pottgen

Hi Renee and John,
That's great news that she has one less tube! And what a perfect little nose it is! She is just too cute. She's a pretty wise girl to want to stay in a nice warm incubator instead of having to brave this crazy Chicago winter we're having. It will be spring/summer before you guys know it, and you'll be strolling her around.
I'm going to be out of town for a week, but please know I will be thinking and praying for if you don't hear from me for a little while. I can't wait to see what she'll be up to in a week.
Take care!
Julie

Hi Renee and John,

Emily has a perfect nose and such a beautiful face (but I'm not surprised because both of her parents are so good looking and beautiful too). This blog has been so great--it has made all of us feel like we are really a part of all that you have been going through with Emily's early arrival. Please know that we are there with you everyday in our thoughts and prayers. She looks stronger with each day! Keep up the good work!

Much Love,

Marilyn, John and Aunt Mary
